I really love crepe myrtles and have one a friend propogated years ago but he didnt pass on the info and he has since passed on.

So I was wondering if anyone else has tried propogating a crepe myrtle either using the seed or from branch cuttings.

On GA one year Jane Edmonson propogated one but I didnt get to catch the information:(

Crepe Myrtle takes easily from cutting, in fact bonsaists sometimes take quite large branches and strike them as cuttings (instant tree!) Just use loads of a hardwood type rooting hormone, keep very damp, and maybe regular doses of Seasol, which many swear by as a tonic for plants in shock.

Thanks everyone now I can get out there and take cutings from all the crepe myrtles I've seen and have a rainbow of colour in my garden:tup:
